Remember These Four disclaimers:
Neither poverty nor wealth makes you more of a Christian
Helping people is not the same thing as the prosperity gospel
God cares about our money and our health
Listening to prosperity preachers doesn’t mean you are not saved
2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3-5
1 John 4:1, 4
Matt. 7:13-23
Three main reasons that prosperity preaching does not prepare you for persecution:

1 Cor. 11:3
Their tendency is to:
Embellish
Misquote, misinterpret, or misapply
Take out of context
Practice eisegesis (read into the text their own ideas)
Use the Bible as a springboard
Typical errors in their teaching:
Wrong view of Christ
Wrong view of people
Word of faith teaching
Five biblical truths about our words:
Our words reveal who we are
Our words impact other people
Our words show wisdom or foolishness
Our words are permanent
Our words are a choice
Lack of repentance
Works-based salvation
Focus on materialism
Self-indulgence, not self-control
Ego-driven
2 Tim. 4:3
III. Prosperity Preachers Are Not Proclaiming the Biblical Gospel
Gal 1:8
Titus 3:5
Eph. 2:8-9
1 Cor. 1:23-25
